Without a doubt, one of the most divisive issues on the political landscape today is immigration, legal or illegal. And there’s a good reason for this being such a hot button topic. Right now, as I’m writing this, thousands upon thousands of individuals have crossed over the southern border we share with Mexico and nothing is being done to stop them. Our agents tasked with guarding this vulnerable area of the country are totally understaffed and lack the proper equipment to truly enforce the law and prevent these folks from invading the United States.
And now we’re witnessing an immigration crisis unfold in the smallish, working-class city of Springfield, Ohio, which boasts a population of 58,000 people and is now being overrun by 20,000 Haitians. There’s even some stories floating around that these invaders are eating people’s pets, though it seems almost impossible to verify the claims.
Regardless, there’s chaos in the city. And yet, leftist media outlets want you to believe this isn’t actually happening as you can see from this article published by NBC News:
The senator from Ohio, as well as other Republican lawmakers and several conservative commentators, have in recent days asserted without evidence that the arrival of thousands of immigrants from Haiti had created chaos in Springfield.
However, just a little further down in the very same article, some of the chaos that’s been happening is mentioned by the outlet:
In May, a jury found a Haitian immigrant guilty of causing a school bus crash that killed an 11-year-old boy.
So which is it? Is there chaos in Springfield or not?
What about people’s pets? Are they at risk of being eaten or used in satanic rituals by Haitians who practice dark arts like voodoo? Police say there’s no reason for anyone to worry. Should these officials be trusted? Who knows?
As bad as all this is, it actually pales in comparison to what’s happening in New York City.
A new report has revealed that a total of 121 hotels in NYC no longer have rooms available for regular patrons due to being used as shelters for migrants. That is insane. How can you not call this an invasion?
A staggering 121 New York City hotels have been taken off the market and converted into migrant shelters – raising concerns that a space crunch and pricier rooms will tank tourism.
Some 16,000 former hotel rooms now booked to help with the influx of migrants into the Big Apple as the room rate for actual hotels has soared past $300 a night.
“There’s no question that taking a massive supply of hotel rooms off the market is increasing prices at the hotels,” said Nicole Gelinas, a senior fellow at the Manhattan Institute, a conservative think tank.
And guess what has gone up in the areas where these shelters are located? If you guessed “crime,” give yourself a cookie from the cupboard. You earned it.
Enough is enough.
Fed-up Queens merchants on Thursday made a desperate plea for help as migrant hookers and unlicensed peddlers have turned a once-thriving stretch of Roosevelt Avenue into a lawless nightmare.
“It just continues to get worse and it seems like there’s no end in sight,” community activist Ramses Frias said during a press conference on the strip.
Leftists aren’t trying to spin the narrative on what’s happening in NYC because it’s really happening and there’s plenty of evidence of it.
Locals and merchants said the number of hookers along Roosevelt Avenue in Jackson Heights and Elmhurst has doubled in the past two months alone, while shoplifters have become more brazen.
Stolen goods — everything from shoes to toys to power tools — are peddled at a discount on sidewalks, steps from the stores where they were stolen, leaving storeowners up in arms.
The NYPD has responded to the migrant-fueled madness, pulling off a series of raids and chasing away the illegal vendors while confiscating their merchandise — only to have the crooks return.
Crime is spreading like wildfire throughout Brooklyn and Manhattan. The New York Post says nearly 75 percent of the people being arrested for criminal activity in the midtown section of Manhattan are migrants.
Across New York, recently arrived migrants are flooding the criminal justice system — at far higher rates than public officials have acknowledged.
Police sources shared with The Post a staggering estimate that as many as 75% of the people they’ve been arresting in Midtown Manhattan in recent months for crimes like assault, robbery and domestic violence are migrants. In parts of Queens, the figure is more than 60%, sources there estimate.
On any given day, Big Apple criminal court dockets are packed with asylum seekers who have run afoul of the law.
This is why immigration and border security have become critical issues for the American people. Our society is at risk of collapse from being overburdened by individuals who have not shown any respect for our laws and entered the nation without permission. We can’t sustain this explosion in population, especially in an economy like ours.
Too much damage has already been sustained. We need a leader and Congress who actually cares about our national security who will finish building the wall and provide Border Security with all of the resources they need to ensure the tide of illegal migrants is stemmed. And that includes deportations, which is a dirty word to the left.
