The military intelligence branch of Ukraine’s armed forces is now raising the alarm that North Korean soldiers are only hours away from joining in with Russia in the conflict between the two nations that has raged for years now. The Irish Star is reporting that the North Korean troops are under the command of Kim Jong Un and will provide Russia with aid in their attempt to reclaim the Kursk region.
Folks, we’ve never been so close to a full-blown global conflict since Adolf Hitler established the Third Reich. Keep in mind the war between Ukraine and Russia is not the only major one going on at the moment. We also have Israel at war with Iran, Hezbollah, and Hamas. It certainly seems as if nations of the world are choosing sides, doesn’t it? How long will it be before all of this explodes like a shaken can of soda pop?
Kyrylo Budanov, head of Ukraine’s Defence Ministry’s Main Intelligence Directorate, is preparing for the arrival of “the first units in the Kursk direction” as early as Wednesday. While specifics on their numbers and equipment are not fully disclosed, GUR chief Lt-Gen Budanov indicated to The War Zone that details would emerge shortly, alluding to a contingent of around 2,600 North Korean soldiers en route to the conflict zone. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky alerted his countrymen to the possibility of up to 12,000 enemy combatants, mentioning this in his regular address. Visuals from Russia’s Far East seem to show North Korean forces gearing up and undergoing training. However, Moscow remains silent on these movements.
A video captures a voice exclaiming: “The handsome allied soldiers from North Korea have arrived. I hope the war will now end.” Zelensky cautions about a significant troop buildup, revealing: “We have information about the preparation of two units of military personnel from North Korea. Maybe even two brigades of 6,000 people – and this is a challenge,” reports the Mirror US.
North Korea has, of course, denied that it’s sent troops to Russia, calling reports of this major military action as “groundless.” Of course, they would say that. They don’t really want anyone to know what they’re up to. However, intelligence from South Korea says these troops are being given fake military identification so they appear to be coming from Yakutia and Buryatia in Siberia.
In a separate development, Kim Yo Jong, the sister of North Korea’s leader, has launched a scathing verbal assault on Ukraine, branding its citizens as “bad dogs ” and “lunatics.” Meanwhile, US Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen has revealed that the US is nearing the completion of a $20 billion payment to Ukraine, funded by frozen Russian assets, as reported by Politico.
Ukrainian President Zelenskyy has dropped hints as of late that he is aspiring to reach a peaceful conclusion to the war, going on to suggest a possible agreement on energy security which could be a major step forward to move the war from its “hot phase.”
“A decision on energy security could be made. In other words: we do not attack their energy infrastructure, they do not attack ours. Could this lead to the end of the hot phase of the war? I think so,” he said.
