This probably goes without saying, but we live in a very dangerous world at a very dangerous time in human history. Our president and his government goons have refused to enforce our immigration laws and secure our border, so thousands upon thousands of migrants, many of whom have rap sheets a mile long, have crossed into the country causing massive spikes in the crime rates of cities all over the nation. Add to that the fact that Democratic Party operatives have been winning elections to become district attorneys and attorneys general, implementing soft-on-crime policies that have enabled violent offenders to be set free.
All of this might be one of the reasons that panic rooms have suddenly become all the rage for billionaires who are starting to have these structures built into their houses and offices.
In fact, according to Curbed, a man by the name of Bill Rigdon can take a closet in your home and make it so that it locks from the inside and has electrified door handles. He can also put a device in the walls that will shoot out colored pepper spray in order to temporarily blind intruders and leave their clothing stained so police can identify them should they make it out of your home before police arrive. And that’s not all. He can take ballistics grade composite and line your pantry with it so that it can withstand nuclear fallout.
Whatever the situation, Rigdon has a solution. And he offers a piece of advice for free. Don’t forget when designing your panic room that you will need a place to go to the bathroom. And trust me, you want to make sure you don’t have to just drop your drawers and take a number two on the floor of an enclosed space. The smell would be worse than dealing with the intruders.
“I once had a Fox News reporter who had a whole plan for a basement bunker where 13, 14 people could stay for a period of time,” Rigdon, who also consulted on David Fincher’s 2002 movie Panic Room, tells me. “But there was no bathroom.
Rigdon, a jovial Angeleno who also trades in yachts, armored vehicles, and art, is one of the longest-running figures in the panic-room industry, having started out 40 years ago building bunkers for Mormons in Nevada. But Rigdon’s business, like so many others in this niche market, has been booming out east in the last year or so, as New York’s wealthiest residents clamor to protect themselves in a city they see as increasingly doomed. “I’ve never been busier,” Rigdon says.
So why is everyone all of the sudden wanting to have a panic room? Do they know something we don’t? Is there a major disaster on the way? A nuclear war?
Well, just flip on the news for an hour or two and see for yourself how bad the world is becoming. Our economy has been flushed down the toilet. People are being forced to pay extremely high prices for basic items and necessities. We have a very volatile situation in the Middle East that has the planet on the verge of a third world war. There’s the aforementioned border crisis and then new diseases being cooked up in labs in China and other places around the world.
The only way to ensure your own survival is through preparation, and that’s exactly what a panic room is. If you have the cash laying around, then it’s probably a good idea to consider having one installed in your home.
