Have you noticed how seemingly out of nowhere young people today are identifying themselves as being part of the LGBTQ community in staggeringly high numbers? When we were children it wasn’t all that common to come across a gay high school student, let alone someone who was transgender.
I know I never heard of such a thing in the days of my youth, several decades ago. Now, you can’t sneeze inside a high school without accidentally spitting on someone who identifies as one of hundreds of genders. Honestly, it feels like mass psychosis.
A new Gallup poll has revealed that this even impacting adults. A record high of 9.3 percent of adults in the country are now identifying as members of the LGBTQ community. And while that’s horrid, the real terrifying truth is how much this impacting Generation Z.
The same data set has revealed that one in five members of Gen Z adults identify as LGBTQ. That’s 22.7 percent. You can probably already guess that this is way, way up from where the number was in previous generations.
In other words, we’re in a cultural crisis, witnessing the complete destruction of an entire generation right before our eyes. As Christians, as conservatives, we have to step up and take some kind of action. We cannot ignore this and hope it just corrects itself.
“How did we get here? The answer lies in the deliberate and aggressive promotion of LGBTQ ideology in every facet of society. Whether in public schools, higher education, entertainment, corporate policies, or even church movements that have abandoned biblical teaching, young people today are bombarded with messages that distort truth and morality,” Prophecy News Watch asked in its latest report on the topic of generational collapse.
One thing that has led to this dramatic increase among Gen Z adults is what is known as a “social contagion,” a phenomenon that has existed for as long as humanity has graced the face of the earth, but has been pumped full of steroids by social media.
A series of studies have been done over the years that suggest a large portion of people, especially young women, are now being influenced to identify as LGBTQ, particularly transgender, due to peer pressure, online communities, and being bombarded by it in popular media.
Used to be back in the day a girl could be a “tomboy” who liked boyish stuff and it wasn’t a big deal at all. Nowadays, if a woman exhibits tomboy behavior she’s encouraged and even pressured into identifying themselves as transgender, even though that might not be true at all.
“Abigail Shrier, author of Irreversible Damage, has documented this phenomenon in detail, showing how rapid-onset gender dysphoria (ROGD) has led to an explosion in young girls suddenly identifying as boys after being exposed to pro-transgender messaging in schools and social media,” the article said.
It added, “Additionally, Dr. Lisa Littman’s research found that in many cases, entire friend groups simultaneously began identifying as transgender, further proving the role of social influence rather than biological or innate tendencies. Despite these alarming findings, mainstream institutions suppress any critical discussion, labeling opposition as ‘hate speech.'”
The consequences that have come about due to this deception has been utterly devastating for Gen Z. LGBTQ advocates promise these folks that if they embrace the LGBT identity they will be their true “authentic” selves.
Unfortunately, that’s not what studies have revealed. Instead, they demonstrate that those who end up transitioning their gender experience severe mental health issues and are often at more risk of suicide than those who are comfortable in their own skin.
According to a study published in JAMA Surgery, individuals who undergo gender reassignment surgery are nearly 20 times more likely to commit suicide than the general population. Another study from Sweden found that even after transitioning, transgender individuals have significantly higher rates of depression, anxiety, and self-harm.
From a Christian perspective, this phenomenon is a direct rebellion against God’s created order. In Romans 1:25, Paul writes, “They exchanged the truth about God for a lie, and worshiped and served created things rather than the Creator.” What we are witnessing today is a modern embodiment of this warning. People are not merely questioning societal norms; they are rejecting the fundamental reality that God created humanity in His image, male and female (Genesis 1:27).
Under the Biden administration, pro-LGBT policies have been aggressively pushed, from allowing biological males to compete in women’s sports to funding gender transition procedures for minors. In contrast, President Trump has taken steps to roll back these radical policies, emphasizing the importance of biological reality, protecting religious freedom, and standing against the DEI (Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion) agenda that seeks to erode traditional values.
While Trump has taken a number of necessary actions to help correct the problem, this isn’t simply a political problem. Christians have to start understanding that this is a spiritual war. And while policies at the governmental level are great, we need to return to the gospel and God’s Word being the foundation of our society.
Only the gospel of Jesus Christ can truly transform hearts and minds.
So what can Christians do to respond to this crisis, being both bold and also having a heart for these lost and confused souls?
For starters, resist the cultural trends within the Church. Accept people, not social contagions like transgenderism. Preach the full truth of the Scriptures and pray for those who are trapped by these lies told by the LGBT community and the movement that supports it.
Create ministries to help guide those struggling with these issues to experience the full healing and acceptance of Jesus Christ. Don’t be silent. Speak out against the madness without fear, trusting God to protect and guide you.
If we act as Christians are truly supposed to in the public square, we can have a positive impact and prevent further collapse not only in Gen Z, but future generations as well.
