One of the biggest existential threats to humanity as a whole is artificial intelligence. And despite warnings for decade upon decade, in every major science-fiction franchise, and the work of philosophers throughout history, we continue trying to play God and create life, despite being flawed, deeply sinful human beings.
The latest example of this seeming desire to rush towards our own annihilation comes from a brand new AI powered humanoid robot being developed by Meta, the company owned by billionaire Mark Zuckerberg. What could be more dangerous than the guy who owns both Facebook and Instagram making a humanoid robot with artificial intelligence?
I can’t think of a whole lot that would be worse. This is just asking, no, begging, for disaster. What’s more is the announcement of this project has boosted the company’s stock, continuing their trek toward achieving a near-term $2 trillion market capitalization.
So yeah, they could potentially be building a murder bot, but hey, in the meantime, why not get filthy, unbelievably rich?
The robots are being programmed and trained to carry out typical household chores, according to ZeroHedge.
“Meta plans to work on its own humanoid robot hardware, with an initial focus on household chores. Its bigger ambition is to make the underlying AI, sensors and software for robots that will be manufactured and sold by a range of companies, said the people, who asked not to be identified because the initiative hasn’t been announced. Meta has started discussing its plan with robotics companies, including Unitree Robotics and Figure AI Inc.,” Bloomberg said in a article on the development of the new technology.
“Meta’s dive into humanoid robots mirrors Elon Musk’s Tesla Optimus, a bi-pedal, autonomous humanoid robot designed to complete unsafe, repetitive, or boring tasks,” the ZeroHedge report stated.

Meta itself confirmed the creation of the brand new Reality Labs team, which will be working to develop AI-powered humanoid robots. Marc Whitten will be the man in charge after resigning from his post as the CEO of General Motors’ Cruise self-driving car division.
“The core technologies we’ve already invested in and built across Reality Labs and AI are complementary to developing the advancements needed for robotics,” Meta CTO Andrew Bosworth stated in a memo.
“The report sent Meta shares higher, up about 1.3% in the late morning trading session, into record-high territory. Shares are on track for a 20-day rally and just $150 billion shy of a $2 trillion market cap,” the article said. “The timing of the Meta report was critical and added just enough momentum to keep the pump alive into the lunch hour.”
You won’t catch me with one of these in my house, regardless of how helpful it might be to have an extra pair of hands to wash dishes and fold laundry. I’ve watched all the movies and read all the books. I know we’re heading down a road where the only thing waiting for us at the end of the journey is extinction.
